Empower Support's Thrive at Home is a new service offering mental health care in the form of support in peoples' own homes. Thrive at Home strives to move away from the traditional domiciliary care model. We provide recovery focused individually tailored support to adults with mental illness in the localities of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. Our vision for 'Thrive at Home' is simple, we believe that every person has the right to ‘be their best self and live their best life’, a life which is best lived out in the community and not in hospital. Empower Support is owned and run by registered mental health nurses with extensive experience within the NHS across multiple fields. As a Recovery Worker you should hold the same values as Empower Support, working towards breaking down the stigma that surrounds mental illness, providing second to none care and supporting and ensuring the well-being and comfort of the people we support. You will be involved in supporting the daily activities of the people we support within their own homes and in the community. The activities are person-centred and recovery focused; promoting their dignity, independence and well-being. The role entails zero to minimal hands-on personal care. The ability to drive and hold a valid driving licence is essential An enhanced criminal record check is required for this role (an ‘open’ DBS on the update service is preferable) Responsibilities As a Mental Health Recovery worker, you will be expected to work the hours according to each individualised package of care; shift patterns will vary but will generally be between the hours of 7am to 9pm 7 days a week, depending on need. This will be determined by the individual's package of care. Support plans will be individualised, but some of the responsibilities included in the role of Recovery Workers include; Promoting service-users wellbeing Encouraging independence and supporting with activities of daily living Supporting service users to find meaningful occupation, hobbies, voluntary or paid work Supporting services users to integrate into the local community and attend activities Monitoring any changes in mental state and physical health Promoting a healthy balanced lifestyle Supporting service users to attend appointments Monitoring and administering medication Zero to minimal hands-on personal care We also provide access to the community for individuals, providing them with social companionship and supporting them with activities and appointments. As part of our community outreach we run social groups around Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to meet the social and emotional needs of not only our clients but anyone else who wants to join us. Qualifications If not already qualified, we would require you to work towards your QCF level 2 in Health and Social Care qualification, starting in your first year of employment with us. This qualification is at no cost to you as the employee. Proven experience in social care is advantageous but not essential as full induction and training will be provided. Some understanding of mental illness and the main diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety and personality disorder would be beneficial. We are a 6-bedded residential home for adults aged 18 and over with mental health problems. Hiraeth House has undergone extensive renovation to convert it into high-specification accommodation. It is positioned in Swansea’s City Centre, allowing easy access to the local amenities. About Us: So, who are we? We will always aim to accommodate requests for certain shifts, but this cannot be guaranteed as the safe running of the service is our ultimate priority. We will also aim to have rotas prepared several weeks in advance for your convenience.
